2. Bob Glahn Scholarship in Statistical Meteorology
Deadline: November 17th
Named for the long-time NOAA Director, the Bob Glahn Scholarship in Statistical Meteorology grants $2,500 annually from the National Weather Association to statistics majors who are interested in applying probability theory to study atmospheric conditions. Qualified juniors and seniors must have completed at least 60 college credits, attend an accredited U.S. university, show unmet financial need, carry a minimum 2.75 GPA, and submit one recommendation from a meteorology professor.

3. Curtis E. Huntington Memorial Scholarship
Deadline: June 17th
The Actuarial Foundation currently offers four undergraduate statistics scholarships, including the $2,000 Curtis E. Huntington Memorial Scholarship. This award is reserved for full-time college seniors who are majoring in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, economics, or related fields at accredited U.S. institutions. 4. Edward C. Bryant Scholarship

Created by Westat, a leading statistical research corporation, in 1995 to honor its Chair Emeritus, the Edward C. Bryant Scholarship is administered by the American Statistical Association (ASA) for $2,500 yearly. Selected awardees must be attending an accredited U.S. graduate school, earning a master’s or PhD degree, display an excellent academic record, and possess applied experience in survey statistics. The application checklist includes three references, an original transcript, and a curriculum vitae.

The American Society for Quality’s Statistics Division gifts the Ellis R. 6. Gertrude M. Cox Scholarship

Another of the American Statistical Association’s graduate statistics scholarships is the Gertrude M. Cox Scholarship, which is presented by the Committee on Women in Statistics for $1,000 each year. Qualified female majors must be legal citizens of the U.S. or Canada who are enrolling full-time in MS or PhD programs for statistics, including biostatistics. Applications must include a one-page essay detailing their cooperative, internship, and research experience interpreting mathematical data.

7. Glenda J. St. Andrie Scholarship Program

Since 2007, the Glenda J. St. Andrie Scholarship Program has been hosted every March by Sam Houston State University’s Department of Mathematics & Statistics to award $1,000. Being chosen requires being enrolled full-time with 12+ semester credits, majoring in statistics, having significant financial need, sustaining a 3.0 GPA or better, and submitting a 500-word statement outlining their meaningful achievements in statistics. Those interested in mathematics education in East Texas could qualify for the Brewton Scholarships.

8. Helen Engebretson Memorial Scholarship
Deadline: January 15th
Valued at $2,000 each, the Helen Engebretson Memorial Scholarship honors a Professor Emeritus who devoted 35 years to teaching at South Dakota State University’s Department of Mathematics. Eligible applicants must be enrolled full-time at SDSU, declare a mathematics or statistics major, complete at least 62 credits, maintain good standing, and show significant improvement in academic performance. At Iowa State University, the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences awards the Herta and H.T. David Scholarship for approximately $2,000 yearly to support sophomore, junior, and senior mathematics or statistics majors who come from challenging family backgrounds. 10. IASA Walt Mason Scholarship

Sponsored by the Insurance Accounting & Systems Association annually, the Walt Mason Scholarship bestows $2,500 upon undergraduates who are pursuing a bachelor’s course of study in finance, actuarial science, statistics, accounting, or risk management. Accepted applicants must intend to enter the insurance industry, attain at least sophomore standing, enroll full-time at accredited U.S. colleges, show active volunteerism, and display academic achievement. 11. Jeanne F. Williams Statistics Scholarship
Deadline: January 18th
Aligned with the Powell Challenge’s terms, the Jeanne F. Williams Statistics Scholarship is granted by the Mathematics Department at Elon University for at least $1,000 each year. The program is open to junior-level female undergraduates who are majoring in statistics full-time with outstanding academic achievement. Preference is given to North Carolina residents, especially those from Alamance County and the Triad. Other scholarships for statistics majors include Sherri S. Offering $1,000 and travel coverage for the ASA Conference on Statistical Practice, the John J. Bartko Scholarship Award is gifted by the American Statistical Association each year to young statisticians enrolled full-time in graduate school. Exceptional freshmen planning to intend Washburn University full-time with a declared major in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics could reap $1,000 or more from the endowed Laura Z. Greene Scholarship Fund. Through the Spencer Educational Foundation, statistics majors who are pursuing career goals in risk management could obtain the Liberty Mutual Group Scholarship for $5,000. 17. Mikkelson Foundation Student Scholarships

Two Mikkelson Foundation Student Scholarships award $3,000 each year to Colorado high school seniors who plan to attend accredited four-year colleges to study engineering, mathematics, or natural sciences, including statistics. Qualifying will require enrolling full-time this fall, carrying an unweighted GPA of 3.7 or higher, scoring at least 1800 on the SAT or 28 on the ACT, and attaching three thoughtful recommendations. 18. Mu Sigma Rho Honorary Scholarships
