6. Christa McAuliffe Teacher Incentive Program

Each year, the Delaware Department of Education offers the Christa McAuliffe Teacher Incentive Program to legal residents of Delaware who are enrolled full-time at a Delaware university and pursuing an undergraduate program leading to teacher certification. Preference is given to applicants who are planning to teach in critical need areas, including art, business education, English, ESOL, mathematics, music, reading, science, special education, and technology education. 8. Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois

Annually, the Golden Apple selects 175 outstanding high school and college students from public and private universities throughout the state of Illinois to join its group of Scholars. 9. Illinois Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver Program

The Illinois Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver (SETTW) Program is offered by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission to encourage academically talented students to pursue careers as preschool, elementary, or secondary teachers with a specialization in special education. 12. Journalism Education Association Future Teachers Scholarships

Every year, the Journalism Education Association (JEA) awards up to five $1,000 scholarships for education majors who are intending to pursue a career teaching scholastic journalism. Recipients of the scholarships must be an upper-division bachelor’s or master’s degree student in an accredited college program that is designed to prepare him or her for teaching secondary education. Current high school journalism teachers who have returned to college degree program to perfect their journalism teaching skills are also encouraged to apply. 13. Minority Teacher Education Scholarship

The Florida Fund for Minority Teachers Incorporated offers a $4,000 Minority Teacher Education Scholarship (MTES) each year to African American, Hispanic, Asian American, or American Indian residents of the state of Florida. Applicants for the MTES must be enrolled in a teacher education program at any of the FFMT participating universities, be a junior who has not earned a bachelor’s degree in education, have earned at least 60 credit hours, and have not exceeded more than 18 hours of upper division education coursework. Supported by the Texas Instruments Demana-Waits Fund, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) awards this $10,000 scholarship to college students preparing to become high school mathematics teachers.
