Offering $500 and a free one-year membership, the American Public Health Association’s (APHA) Get Ready Scholarship Program selects one high school senior, undergraduate, and graduate student annually based on their winning essays. Since 1982, the Heartland Foundation has bestowed the Bill and Mary Russell Health Care Scholarship for $500 to $1,000 to Midwesterners in Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska who are declaring majors in health professions, such as nursing or public health.
